One of the largest medieval fortresses in Britain, begun in 1268 by the Anglo-Norman marcher lord, Gilbert de Clare. Fourteen Locks Canal Centre

The Canal Centre has been on this site since 1978 but it was only open six months of the year and five days a week. Over the winter of 2008/9 the Monmouthshire, Brecon & Abergavenny Canals Trust Ltd. together with Newport City Council raised enough funds through the European Funding Office to re-build the Centre to the magnificent building you see today.
In May of last year the Trust leased the building off Newport city Council and because the Centre is now open twelve months of the year seven days a week we have managed to attract 35,000 visitors in our first year. COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF AND ITS FREE!!

Caerphilly County Borough's newest country park! Enter the park through one of the eleven sculpted gateways and enjoy walks along the Rhymney River and through woodlands.
Most paths are surfaced making it safe for cycling. Its hard to believe that this quiet and natural place was once the site of the highest coal tip in Europe.
You can explore the fragments of old woodland that escaped the ravages of mining. The river, once trapped in a huge tunnel, is now alive with Dippers, Herrons, Kingfishers, and (if you're lucky) Otters.

Groeswen Chapel is set on the slopes of Mynydd Meio, overlooking Caerphilly. The Chapel is a grade 2* listed building of National interest, with a graveyard, which contains the remains of Wales most notable preachers, musicians and literary figures, earning the Chapel the title of 'Westminster Abbey of Wales'.

Visitors today step into the Manor House restored and furnished as it would have been in 1645. All the furnishings in the rooms are accurate reproductions of items from the time of the Prichards and many of the originals can be found in the Museum of Welsh Life at St. Fagans.

The Heritage Museum located in Senghenydd Community Centre has been in Existence for several years. It is run voluntarily, with the help of a part-time project officer, through the support of many dedicated volunteers who ensure that the museum is open to the public, free of charge, between 11am and 2pm Monday to Saturday.
