Dog Friendly Venues in Caerphilly County Borough

Caerphilly County Borough is becoming more and more dog friendly … whether you’re looking for somewhere to eat with your pooch, somewhere to exercise with them or an overnight stay that welcomes your furry companion! There are lots of options available. There is even a special doggy ice-cream on sale at a number of venues, not forgetting dog afternoon teas and birthday cake!

Enjoy what the area has to offer with your furry friend by your side.

1) Argoed Baptist Church – Caffi’r Ffynnon, Argoed – Dogs are permitted, contact the venue for full details.

2) Basil & Rusty’s Ice Cream, Machen – Dogs are allowed in all areas except the factory toilet and the order point. Lots of dogs enjoy an ice cream too! Water bowls and outdoor taps are provided. Dogs should remain on leads at all times. When indoors owners should respect other visitors already seated and ask if they mind the dog. There is a footpath very near the parlour entrance with some lovely walks and the venue welcomes visitors looking for a relaxing pit stop whilst out walking their dog.

3) Bistro 8 – Dogs are permitted in the downstairs bar area and outside seating areas only. Dog bowls are provided.

4) Brew Monster Brewing Company, Caerphilly – Water bowls available on request.

5) Brewers Lodge, Blackwood – Dog friendly bar and beer garden. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all time, contact the venue for full details.

6) Caerphilly Castle, Caerphilly – Dogs are permitted, contact the venue for full details.

7) Castle Court Craft & Food Market, Caerphilly – Dogs are allowed around the market area on a lead.

8) Coffi Vista – Caerphilly- Water Bowls are provided. Friendly dogs welcome inside if kept on a short lead.

9) Cwmcarn Forest, Cwmcarn – The centre and accommodation are pet friendly which includes selected pods / lodges and the cafe. Water bowls are provided.

10) Gatehouse Caerphilly – Dog friendly outside only with dog bowls provided, plus doggy ice-cream is on sale!

11) Glendene Garden Annex, Risca – Dogs are permitted with dog bowls, dog towels and treats provided.

12) Llancaiach Fawr Manor, Nelson – Guide dogs only in the buildings, manor and walled garden, however visitors are permitted to exercise their dogs on the meadow. Water and taps are provided for dogs in the car parks.

13) Llechwen Hall Hotel, Llanfabon – A really good selection of pet friendly bedrooms. Dogs can dine with you in the lounge or on the terrace. There are dog beds and bowls available, and an all-important dog bin in the car park area. Pets are not allowed into the main restaurant, and it is requested that pets are on their best behaviour. Dogs as ring bearers at weddings is not unheard of either!

14) Outdoor Explore Wales – Well-behaved dogs permitted, but they have to be calm and patient to stay on a SUP!

15) Rock UK – The Summit Centre, Trelewis – Dogs are allowed in the cafe but need to be on leads. Water bowls are provided outside reception and free dog treats are available in the café. Not forgetting the sale of the much loved ‘Utterly Mutterly’ dog ice cream!

16) Taffodil’s self-catering, Bargoed – Dogs are permitted, contact the venue for full details.

17) Ten Degrees Bar & Restaurant, Caerphilly – Offers a dog friendly courtyard with seating for around 40 people, doggie drinking bowl stations are available and a doggie mini menu with ice cream is to be introduced.

18) The Beech Tree Bar & Restaurant, Ystrad Mynach – Well behaved dogs are permitted in the lounge and bar. Bedrooms are not dog friendly.

19) The Coach House B&B, Rudry – Accommodation is dog friendly with some restrictions. There is only one room which is deemed suitable for dogs. All ‘dog’ bookings are subject to management discretion and must be confirmed before booking as the venue reserves the right to charge an additional fee. Any and all damage is to be paid for. The venue reserves the right to refuse a booking if the dog is deemed unsuitable for the premises.

20) The Harp Inn, Gelligaer – Dogs are welcomed but must be kept on a lead. Water available on request.

21) The Junction Inn, Hengoed – Dogs are welcome in the pub, however this is in the bar area only and they must be kept on a lead at all times and off the furniture.

22) The Lord Nelson Inn – Dog friendly in the bar and outside areas. Water bowls and dog biscuits provided.

23) The Old Library Café, Caerphilly– Well behaved dogs can sit in and water can be supplied when requested.

24) The Plaza Café, Blackwood– Dogs are more than welcome inside the Plaza and can be given a bowl of water upon request.

25) The Rock Inn & Restaurant, Blackwood– Water bowls are provided plus dog treats are available in the outside seating area. Only Guide dogs are welcome in restaurant areas.

26) The Rose and Crown Eglwysilan, Bedwas – Dogs are permitted in the lounge and farmers bar but not the conservatory. There are water bowls located around the building, free dog treats behind the bar and ‘Utterly Mutterly’ dog friendly ice cream.

27) The White Cross Inn, Groeswen– Barrel and tap outside for drinking water for horses and dogs. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture.

28) The Wonky Bar, Caerphilly – Dogs are welcomed but must be kept on a lead. Water available on request.

29) Tony’s cafe – bar – pizzeria, Crosskeys – Water and treats provided. Garden available for all well-behaved dogs.

30) Ty Coppi Adventures – Well behaved dogs are permitted to stay in the holiday accommodation.

31) Ty Nance Holiday Cottage – A dog friendly cottage with an enclosed rear garden.

32) Under the Oak Glamping, Bedwas– There is an extra charge for guests to bring dogs. A basket, blanket and dog bowl are provided. The Safari Tents are dog friendly, but the Railway Carriages are not suitable for pets.

33) Upper Grippath Farm Holiday Cottages, Risca – The Barrwg Cottage allows is dog friendly by prior arrangement.

34) Y Fan Bed & Breakfast – Unfortunately dogs are not permitted in the house but there are outdoor seating areas where well behaved dogs are welcome.

35) Y Galeri Caerffili – Well behaved dogs on leads are permitted into the gallery.
