Set up as a social enterprise in 2014 with the objective of raising awareness about the importance of pollinators i.e. honey bees, they deliver a uniquely designed educational workshop to local schools as a form of alternative learning. It is a practical workshop for teachers to use alongside standard curriculum teaching aids to meet the national curriculum.
Sirhowy Valley Honey Bee Company operate two centres of education both available to schools and the general public, one of which is in Ynysddu Primary School and the other which is due to open in the spring is at Idris Primary school in Rhymney. The centres have between 2 and 4 colonies of honeybees with the larger of the two holding approximately 45,000 honeybees in peak summertime.
The facilities enable Sirhowy Valley Honeybee Company to hold honeybee workshops whatever the weather. On weekends they host Honeybee experiences and workshops for the general public, where they get face to face and a completely hands on experience working with honeybees, learning all about their life cycle and their importance to mankind as pollinators.
They provide full protection by way of professional beekeeping suits and gloves, all you need is your wellies!!
They provide a range of workshops and experiences to suit all ages and abilities, with full access for their disabled Beekeepers.
Sirhowy Valley Honey Bee Company also provide talks and lectures on the whole process in a wide range of venues on request.
Corporate Days
Would like a bit of a difference to the normal corporate day?. Put a bee suit on, spend the morning inspecting hives and after a lunch of honey products, extract some more honey in our extraction room and take home a jar of beautiful honey.

Produce on Sale
The products that they make are 100% natural. No two jars of honey are ever the same, this depends on the season from which the hive was harvested. Sirhowy Valley Honey has a unique flavour with a beautiful colour and is world renowned, with sales from here to Australia. From Candles to furniture polish, they make it all in house. Lip balms too! All products are 100% from their own beehives.
Honeybee accessories for the home are available as well as 4oz Jars of their “Welsh Gold” Honey at £3.75 each, gift sets from £16 each, purest honey beeswax candles ranging from £2 to £5 each and lip balms are £3 each.
