Woodlands Log Cabins & Tipi Holidays Wales

The Woodlands is situated in the breathtaking valley of Wattsville, South Wales.

It is quite simply a beautiful and tranquil getaway that will be long remembered. So if you’re thinking of a holiday in Wales this year, why not get away from it all and spend a little time in the middle of nature…

There is an ancient broadleaf woodland to explore, and surrounding forestry. A stream runs through the valley bottom, and there are lots of walks available. The accommodation is very close to the Sirhowy Valley Country Park of 1000 acres. A Clay Shooting Club, Golf Clubs and Leisure Centres are also nearby. Supermarkets are 10 minutes away in either Risca or Blackwood – which also has a multi- screen cinema. You may bring your pets, but kept under control.

The Cabin

The cabin sleeps 5 persons by way of a cosy double room (small) and a second bedroom with double bed and bunk over. There is a sofa bed for two extra persons – should it be required. There is also a shower room, laundry room and toilet – disabled friendly. The fully fitted kitchen contains electric cooker, chip fryer , toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer, and sandwich maker, plus all usual utensils, crockery, etc. The living area is open plan and contains a T.V and music centre. There is also a Multi fuel stove (an initial bag of logs is supplied) and electricity is by coin meter. There is plans for a hot tub to be installed by the summer.

The Tipi

The Tipi is a new project set in a small paddock above the cabin site – please note there is NO electricity at this site. It is based on a Sioux tipi, and has the name ‘Canowcanakte’ – which is Sioux for ‘Forest Hunter’. The Tipi sleeps 5 persons on Futon beds. Bedding is supplied and stored in ottoman units. It is an Eco site, with a rustic wooden building housing the toilet / shower room. Cooking is by a BBQ style cooker, with sink unit / drainer. There is also a fire pit with tripod for your natural cooking. Lighting is by small gas lamps, you may bring your own as well.

Woodlands background

The Log Cabin came from Estonia about four years ago, constructed entirely by the owners and was set up originally as a Day Centre for ‘Special Needs’ people (not built as a holiday lodge). Conversion to a holiday lodge was carried out last September and lasted until Christmas.
