{"id":16324,"date":"2026-03-05T11:03:52","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T11:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visitcaerphilly.com\/?p=16324"},"modified":"2026-03-05T11:03:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T11:03:54","slug":"sculptures-installed-at-cwmcarn-forest-drive-as-the-story-of-bran-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visitcaerphilly.com\/en\/sculptures-installed-at-cwmcarn-forest-drive-as-the-story-of-bran-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Sculptures installed at Cwmcarn Forest Drive as the story of Br\u00e2n continues"},"content":{"rendered":"\t<section id=\"\" class=\"block text-block\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>Two striking sculptures inspired by the story of Br\u00e2n have been installed around the lakeside at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitcaerphilly.com\/en\/listings\/cwmcarn-forest\/\"><strong>Cwmcarn Forest<\/strong><\/a>. Completed by South Wales-based artist collective <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NONaffArt\"><strong>NoNaffArt CIC<\/strong><\/a>, the installations have already received positive feedback from visitors.<\/p>\n<p>Designed with the legendary tale in mind, these sculptures \u2014 \u2018Br\u00e2n\u2019s Foot\u2019 and the \u2018Cauldron of Rebirth\u2019 \u2014 invite people to engage with the mythology of the area. The story has been further enhanced with interpretive panels at Cwmcarn Visitor Centre installed. Interpretive Panels have also been installed by the sculpture.<\/p>\n<p>This project was made possible with funding from Visit Wales\u2019 Brilliant Basics programme and a match contribution from CCBC Regeneration Department. A contribution has also been made from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to complete the interpretive panels.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Waste, Leisure &amp; Green Spaces, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s been fantastic to see how quickly these sculptures have captured people\u2019s imaginations. Since their installation, they\u2019ve already become a real talking point for visitors, encouraging people to explore the lakeside and connect with the rich mythology of the area. Projects like this not only enhance the visitor experience at Cwmcarn Forest Drive, but also help bring our local stories to life in a creative and engaging way.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tania Bryan, Director and Designer of Bran\u2019s Foot, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The concept of Br\u00e2n\u2019s Foot was a natural progression after the creation of the bees and his treasure. The design is inspired by nature and the belief that Br\u00e2n is deep rooted in the history of Twmbarlwm, hence the depiction of brans foot in the form of a tree growing out from the soil itself.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Louis Smith, Designer &amp; Lead Sculptor for \u2018Cauldron of Rebirth\u2019, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Inspired by Br\u00e2n, I focused on his cauldron of rebirth, which has the power to bring back the dead, as depicted in the Mabinogion. Using local Welsh Pennant stone. The stone&#8217;s arrangement is taken from the rushing water, connecting the sculpture to its local environment and the streams of Cwmcarn.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Visitors are encouraged to explore these captivating artworks and experience the story of Bran for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>NONaffArt CIC, a collective of visual artists, designers, and wellbeing coaches, covers a broad range of skills, including fine art, ceramics, glassmaking, and sculpture.
