The Bargoed Spring Fair, which took place on Saturday 21st March, marked the second major event of the year, welcoming families, couples and friends of all ages for a vibrant day of entertainment and community spirit.

The town centre had a great atmosphere as over 2,250 visitors enjoyed a wide variety of stalls offering delicious food, unique crafts and valuable local information.

A strong programme of family-friendly activities ensured there was something for everyone. Children were particularly entertained by funfair rides, free crazy golf, animal displays, Punch and Judy shows and craft workshops. Easter-themed street theatre also featured an array of lively characters, including Easter bunnies, mirror bunnies and even a giant swan, all interacting with crowds.

Local businesses played a key role in the event’s success, demonstrating outstanding support and community engagement.   Some businesses extended their presence onto the high street with table-top sales and promotional activities, whilst other venues, including Bargoed Library, hosted indoor activities to encourage visitors and maximise footfall.

Driving increased footfall into town centres remains the central aim of these events, and the Bargoed Spring Fair delivered. So far this year, just two events The Big Welsh Festival and the Bargoed Spring Fair, have attracted nearly 5,500 visitors to town centres across the borough, highlighting the growing success and impact of the events programme.

Looking ahead, Bargoed will continue to host a series of exciting events throughout the year – including the annual May Fair on Saturday 9th May, the Summer Music Festival on Saturday 11th July, and the Winter Fair, Light Switch On, and Music and Light Lantern Parade on Saturday 14th November.

CCBC would like to extend their thanks to Bargoed Town Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for financially supporting this event.

Hear what Bargoed Town Council, local businesses and traders thought of the event:

Bargoed Town Council – “Bargoed Town Council would like to extend a huge “Thank You” to everyone involved in delivering the Spring Fair in Bargoed on Saturday 21st March 2026. It was wonderful seeing the town so full of happy, smiling faces, enjoying the wide variety of activities and food offerings that had been made available to them. From Punch and Judy to street performers to craft stalls and artisan food providers, the event went off fabulously, with sunshine to top it off. Well done all.”

The Jewellery Stall – “Thank you all for a great day. Sun was shining, people came out and the whole street was busy.”

Kilted Dragon Distillery – “It was our first Caerphilly event and the team were fabulous! We will definitely sign up to more events within the region.”

Sian’s Emporium – “Another great event. It was great to see so many smiling people from the event team who smiled from before 7am to the end of the day! To the Town and County councillors who came out and made themselves visible during the day. Also, the resident businesses who made us welcome and commented on the positive impact the event had on the town and on their turnover for the day. In terms of organisation and support, it is in the top tier of events in the UK – and we do a lot of events across the UK. Thanks again for all the support and effort for the team on the day.”

Bowen & La Bamba Barbershop & Awaydayz Clothing – “We’re really pleased with the success of the Bargoed Spring Fair. As a new business that has recently relocated to new premises, the event and the Easter Trail in particular was a fantastic way to help people discover where we are. It’s so positive to see events like this taking place in the town. We definitely need more of them, as Saturday was amazing.”

Peacocks Bargoed – “The store was busy and there was a really good atmosphere in the town. It was lovely to see stalls all the way through the High Street, and not just at the top end of town.”
