Age Suitability: For ages 4+
Join OverTheres Stories CIC for a fun, inclusive and imaginative puppet-making workshop led by professional puppeteers Basil and Rosie; the creative minds behind Flint and Cookie!
This relaxed, hands-on day is perfect for young makers, storytellers, and anyone who loves to create.
What’s Happening?
11am–12pm: Settle in & Free Play – read, draw, colour, play with toys or meet our puppet characters Flint and Cookie in their festive outfits!
12–1pm: Lunch Break – bring your packed lunch or grab something in town and enjoy some downtime.
1–3pm: Puppet Making! Choose between:
• A Simple Puppet (easy and fun for beginners!)
• A Rod Puppet Character (for those ready for a creative challenge!)
Make them festive, OverTheres-themed, or totally unique- it’s up to your imagination!
Basil and Rosie will be there to guide and support every step of the way, with no pressure to make your puppet look “just right.”
At the end, children can (if they’d like!) share their puppet’s story with the group and join us for festive photos with Flint, Cookie, and their new creations.
Everyone will also take home simple instructions to keep the creativity going with materials found around the house!
Inclusive & Accessible
This session is designed to be welcoming and supportive for all children, including those who are neurodivergent or disabled. We encourage free play, flexible pacing, and creativity without pressure.
Some Useful Information
Standard tickets are £5.00 for first child, then £3.50 for siblings, plus Eventbrite booking fee – however, *no one will be turned away due to lack of funds* Please let Cynefin Caerffili know if the ticket price means you might not be able to attend. Cynefin Caerffili love welcoming dogs at our venue! However, due to the interactive and child-focused nature of this puppet event, we’re making a temporary exception. Only trained service animals may attend this particular event. This helps us keep the environment calm, safe, and enjoyable for our young guests. Thanks for supporting our community events.
