Local businesses in Ystrad Mynach came together to create some festive cheer by hosting a special Late-Night Christmas Shopping Evening on Thursday 11th December 2025. Many shops extended their opening hours until 8.00pm, offering residents and visitors the perfect opportunity to shop for unique gifts while soaking up the festive atmosphere.

This joint approach by local businesses provided the opportunity for shoppers to enjoy a relaxed evening browsing a range of independent retailers, with many businesses offering special promotions throughout the evening. The weather stayed dry and several retailers reported additional sales during this period and positive feedback from customers, highlighting the value of collaborative town centre initiatives.

Rebecca Barrett, CCBC Town Centre Support Officer, said:

“The idea for a late-night Christmas shopping evening was suggested by Ystrad Mynach businesses earlier this year. CCBC advertised the shopping evening to boost trade and it was great to see the business community working together to celebrate the festive season whilst promoting the town.”

The shopping evening was part of a wider programme of Christmas town centre activities arranged by CCBC’s Town Centre Team, aimed at boosting footfall during the Christmas period across the principal towns of Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly, Risca and Ystrad Mynach, whilst promoting local shopping and showcasing all that each town has to offer.

Thank you to all participating businesses, retailers and visitors for making Ystrad Mynach sparkle this Christmas!
