Read time: 2m

Development of a contemporary 24-room guest wing with leisure facilities heralds first phase of a 4-star quality upgrade at the premium South Wales Valley’s hotel and scenic wedding venue.

The owners of Llechwen Hall Hotel  unveiled and officially opened a new wing of the destination hotel, bringing the total number of guest bedrooms to 44.

The opening was officiated by Councillor Julian Simmonds, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, and Mrs Karen Simmonds, the Mayoress, in a traditional red carpet and ribbon-cutting ceremony. In attendance were members of the Caerphilly Tourism Association, Caerphilly County Council Rural Development Programme, Visit Wales, local media, private investors, and a large number of the hotel’s team.

Guests were given a tour of the new 2-storey wing and shown a selection of the 4-star quality designer bedrooms featuring air-conditioning, Juliette balconies, high-end furniture and memory foam beds, spacious bathrooms with spa-style rain showers, handcrafted Welsh fabrics and artwork, USB ports and unlimited WiFi. The tour concluded with a champagne reception and canapés in the wing’s new lounge bar, with scenic bi-fold doors opening on to a peaceful, enclosed Welsh slate terrace.

As part of the expansion, a spa, treatment rooms, and gym will open to guests in early 2020. The original building and 20 guest bedrooms will undergo further refurbishment to 4-star quality, while the period lounge bar will receive a contemporary yet sympathetic remodelling, with the current reception being removed to create a link directly into the new wing.

The development of Llechwen Hall has been supported by a £409,000 investment from the Micro & Small Business Fund, through the Welsh Government Rural Communities Rural Development Programme 2014–2020, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and Welsh Government. Coupled with private investment, the development programme totals £1.9m
Family-owned, Llechwen Hall has received continuous investment since its purchase in 2008, thereby firmly establishing the hotel as a quality destination venue and retreat set in glorious Welsh countryside.
