CCBC Christmas Window Dressing Competition 2024 – Ystrad Mynach

Read time: 2m

Congratulations to Veg of Evans who were recently crowned the winners of the Ystrad Mynach Christmas Window Dressing Competition 2024!

Veg of Evans fought off tough competition from a number of other entrants, but judges were particularly impressed by the time, effort and level of detail that had gone into their festive display, including a moving train set and climbing Santas!

Veg of Evans is a family-run business, led by Ystrad Mynach locals Susanne Evans and her husband Simon, and supported by their daughter Chloe, Susanne’s mother Jane and Simon’s father Howard.  The business has been running for over 10 years and relocated from Jones Arcade to new premises at 16 Penallta Road in November 2023.  The shop sells fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, bakery bread, farm eggs, and a range of jams, marmalades and chutneys.  Veg of Evans offers free delivery to residents in neighbouring towns and also supplies local restaurants, cafes, pubs, and schools.

When informed that Veg of Evans had been selected as the Ystrad Mynach winner, Susanne said “Thank you so much, I’m overjoyed with my window, I do it every year and always enjoy doing it.  I would also like to thank our customers for all their support.”

Susanne and Simon also added to their trophy cabinet at the start of December by winning the “Best Local Convenience” category at the South-East Wales Best of Welsh Business Awards!  Congratulations on your well-deserved achievement!
