Risca Museum

Risca Colliers Institute, Grove Road, Risca, NP11 6GN

Risca Industrial History Museum houses one of the best collections of artefacts relating to the industrial heritage of the South Wales valleys. The museum is located at the Risca Colliers Institute, which was built in 1916 and is now a Grade II listed building.

Risca Museum displays an extensive collection of artefacts, memorabilia and photographs illustrating a wide variety of subjects relating the industrial history of the Risca area, from coal mining and the iron industry to tram roads, railways, canals, and more.

Run entirely by volunteers from the Oxford House Industrial History Society, the museum’s collection has grown over the years thanks to contributions from society members and generous donations.

Risca Museum makes for a great Saturday morning out – especially if the printers are on site (see website for dates) and offers a fascinating insight into the local history for both residents and visitors alike.
